Guiding Light

By Asma Purewal

I turn to You, my constant guide,
In You, my saviour, I confide.
I dare not let the storm clouds loom,
Nor let thunder sentence me to doom!
I dare not let the winds pull me astray,
For steadfast I must be, come what may.

Alone I walk, with shadows near,
Yearning for solace, never clear.
Shadows that hinder, block my flight,
Shadows that dim my inner light.

Restlessness grips, and here I stand,
Questioning if I am flawed or grand.
To my core, am I faulty or whole?
To my Creator, I turn and pray, seeking care and more.

As time moves on, I remain,
Wondering if I missed the train?
In search of purpose and a guiding role,
I seek solace and strength from Heaven's door.

A new beginning, I long to see,
Inhale deeply, find serenity.
To my Creator, I always plead,
For comfort and strength, in my time of need.
